Full Biography

James Pitts has been a member of the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra since its inception, bringing more than 25 years of experience in music ministry and performance to the ensemble. He currently serves as Worship Pastor and Director of Ministry Development at Faith Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he combines his musical background with a passion for leadership and service.

James began playing piano at age 12 and earned a degree in Church Music from Bob Jones University. Throughout his career, he has served as a pianist, accompanist, music director, and ensemble musician, accompanying numerous soloists and performing with music teams across the United States and internationally in Spain, Australia, the Philippines, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, and Israel.

In addition to his musical work, James has helped facilitate and lead tours through Israel and Greece with Land of the Bible Tours, drawing upon his gifts for leadership and organization to help others experience the history and culture of the biblical world.

For James, one of the greatest joys of performing with the FSO is making music alongside his wife, Rachel, a first violinist with the orchestra. Together, they are raising five boys, ages 9, 7, 5, 3, and their newborn. With music woven so deeply into their family life, James considers it a special privilege to share the stage with Rachel and to belong to an orchestra that brings together talented musicians, families, and a community united by a love of music.
